Note on Accreditation

In home-schooling it is you, the parents, who are choosing the educational path for your children and you are the ones "accrediting" their schooling. We believe that this is the way it should be whatever educational path you choose. You have the responsibility before the Lord for your child’s education so you should be satisfied with the outcome.

Quo Vadis is here to help you in your task. We provide grade records for all classes taken through us but we do not provide a full range of high school courses and we are not a school but one tool which may help you in your task; nor are we an umbrella school for educational accreditation and we have not chosen to be accredited through any accreditation association.

It is important for you to know that you do not need to imitate the public schools in style of teaching or in courses and content. You should seek to provide the best education without encumbering yourself with traditional school expectations. It doesn’t hurt to know what these schools require or what colleges require for entrance in order to plan your course of study but it is not healthy for home-schooling parents to feel compelled to imitate traditional structure when they are seeking non-traditional goals. Home-schooling has its own unique methods, goals and means of attaining them. Be creative and let Quo Vadis be one of your resources if we can help you.

Most home-school parents put together their own transcript made up of the home and coop classes, any traditional school classes they have had and such classes as they take from Quo Vadis Educators or other instruction. They may even include life experience and vacations if these accomplish legitimate educational goals. As colleges have become acquainted with home-schooling they have adapted their records to this method and some colleges now actively recruit home-schoolers. The Dallas County Community Colleges have been very pro-active in encouraging home schoolers and Eastfield Community College even has a home-school liaison person, Sharon Wagner, who may be very helpful to you in answering questions about what records you need and how to prepare them. She can be reached through the Eastfield College main number.

*Important Note: Accreditation– Private schools are not normally accredited by the state, nor should they be. The state accredits its own system. Private and Christian schools, when they choose accreditation, do so through private accreditation associations.
